Just before we dive into what DAO means and importance of the DAO role of the GRAPE PROTOCOL project, there’s still a need to talk about the project itself.
GRAPE, is a project Built on the fastest blockchain in the world and the Fastest growing Ecosystem in crypto which is no other than the Elephant himself, SOLANA. GRAPE, “is a protocol for building decentralized social network”. It’s a protocol which is keen to achieving the objective of linking several communities (with any SOLANA TOKEN), mainly through the Discord application.
GRAPE Protocol creates token-gated discord communities using SPL tokens. Each token’s gate is for the purpose of sharing important information to members who hold a certain amount of the token. A lot of SPL token have their discords linked to GRAPE and examples are the Cope-dojo (COPE gate), Futurelandia (FTR gate) and so on.
WHAT IS DAO ?
Ever wondered what the term DAO means ? Well, almost everyone has at some point, and for someone who already has a good knowledge of cryptocurrency and blockchain technology, it is more important to know the “what and how” of the DAO.
The term DAO is an abbreviation which stands for Decentralized Autonomous Organization. It is one of the most tortuous forms of a decentralized organization. The DAO is an independent body/organization that can run on its own without having any hierarchical management(no form of rankings or a leader to manage the organization). They operate based on an established body. They solely make rules, processes and laws and enact them. They simply have no central authority to control them.
The DAO should be seen as Legislators who make rules, bills, make proposals and enact them.
GRAPE DAO
Grape Protocol also has this independent body (DAO) which is called the Grape-Dao. They are known as the Class A members of the Server.
The Grape-Dao consists of members from different roles on the server who have effortlessly proven they are worthy of being a DAO member through their involvement in Grape and also in the SOLANA ecosystem in general.
These aforementioned roles include the Designer, Videographer, Community creator, Writer and Researcher roles. It is necessary to have a role to be a member of the DAO (as it works in a way that you’re there to represent the members of the role you’re in).
How to be a Grape Dao Member:
Members are chosen to become a part of the Grape Dao once their involvement in Grape has been evaluated and they are fit to become one.
Once GRAPE launches their token, members would need to hold at least 20000 $GRAPE tokens become they can become a part of the Grape-Dao.
FUNCTIONS OF THE GRAPE DAO:
Just as any body or organization would have their respective functions, significance and values, the Grape-Dao also have their functions which they do carry out everyday.
- Voting Powers:
The Grape Dao have the powers to vote on a certain decision so as for such decision to stand or be rejected. They make voting polls for make decision making processes which include the adding of new SPL token gate to the server, removal of SPL gates from the server (an example is the removal of the FROG gate from the server which was done through the votes made by the DAO).
2. Rewarding of OG role mechanism:
They decide on how and what ways must a member be rewarded with the OG role on the server, which can be through members involvement in the server, participation in various tasks e.g . winners of a tournament should be rewarded the OG role.
More importantly, as the OG would become more difficult to get once GRAPE gets launched, members must hold a certain amount of the GRAPE token to be given the OG role.
3. Deciding on roles to have across the server
The Grape-Dao decide on roles which can added to the already existing roles on the server.

I am a College Politician in which I represent my Department at the Faculty Level as a Legislator. As we all know a Legislator is someone who make and enacts laws, and also represents his constituency. Same thing goes for the Grape-DAO members, who make decisions which will benefit either every members of the server or their respective roles.
I believe I with such knowledge, I’m capable of representing every member of the Designing Team through making decisions that will benefit them.
I’d also love to contribute to every processes and decisions which would bring to the growth and success of GRAPE Protocol.
